St. Stephen's has a wide range of spiritual formation programs and smallgroups for adults. A group of parishioners meet monthly the third Wednesday of each month to share a meal and to talk about issues related to caring for aging loved ones--a safe place to talk about things that most people who don't have aging loved ones want to hear about. The collaborative organizes art exhibits and events in the worship space. The Collaborative has mounted a number of exhibits in the church, sponsored a community sing with Dr. Ysaye Barnwell, and worked with the church Vestry and liturgy planning group to include the arts in our liturgy. St. Stephen's resident theater company is the Lean & Hungry Theater, the only theater company in the Washington, DC metropolitan area dedicated to adapting works of Shakespeare and other classic playwrights as radio dramas. Learn more about Lean & Hungry on their website.
A St. Stephen's parishioner hosts a series of Wednesday evening Bible studies at his Brookland home from 6:45 - 8:30pm. For more information, email the church office.
Join us the first Friday of each month in the nave at 6:30 for contemplative practices. Each session usually involves yoga prayer and meditation around the altar. (No previous yoga experience is necessary, only a desire to explore or deepen prayer expression of the heart through postures of the body. All postures can be modified for any skill or physical ability, that each may prayer as inspired and able.) Each month's gathering focuses on a particular theme. Every Sunday (with the occasional exception), we gather at 9:15am in the church auditorium for our Sunday morning discussion series, Forum. During the summer months, Forum is bible study, led by the preacher for that day's 10:30 service. Please come. Any Sunday. 9:15am. Prompt!
St. Stephen's hot meal program, which serves anyone in need Saturdays, Sundays, Christmas Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Monday holidays, seeks volunteers to help prepare and serve meals and to help with administrative functions such as fundraising, publishing newsletters, scheduling, and serving on the board.
The Middle Agers of St. Stephen and the Incarnation (MASSI) meets the first Sunday of each month for early afternoon brunch to discuss topics such as mid-life as a jumping-off point for new endeavors, dealing with health challenges and the inevitable physical slowdown, and evolving spiritual practices. Request to be added to the MASSI email list.
A men's group meets one evening a month for serious conversation and serious eating. For more information, email the church office.
Out in Christ provides a welcoming environment for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Christians and their supporters and friends to explore their place in the Church, enrich their spiritual lives and minister to one another and the larger community. A group of parishioners hold a clothing rummage sale once every three-or-so months. For more information, email the church office.
A group of parishioners departs St. Stephen's after the 10:30 service every second Sunday of the month for brunch and a discussion about faith. All are welcome. 
The Threaders, a group of parishioners and friends, meet every Monday evening to knit prayer shawls, pray together, and build community. Their prayer shawls have been given to people in the parish and outside of the parish who are ill. St. Brigid's welcomes new and experienced knittters, and those who want to learn.
